Governor DeWine Announces Plan to Slowly Reopen Ohio

On April 27th, Ohio Governor Mike DeWine announced his plan to slowly reopen parts of the economy that had been closed or significantly limited in an attempt to flatten the COVID 19 curve.

The basics of the reopening are as follows:

Beginning May 1, 2020, all medically necessary procedures that do not require an overnight stay in a healthcare facility or do not require inpatient hospital admission and minimizes the use of personal protective equipment may move forward. This includes dentists and veterinarians.

Beginning on May 4, 2020, manufacturing, distribution, and construction businesses may reopen if these businesses can meet mandatory safety requirements for customers and employees.

Beginning on May 4, 2020, general office environments may reopen if these businesses can meet mandatory safety requirements for customers and employees.

Beginning on May 12, 2020, consumer, retail and services, may reopen if these businesses can meet mandatory safety requirements for customers and employees.

Noticeably, the announcement does not include information on how places like adult day and vocational centers, daycares, salons, barbershops, dine-in restaurants, movie theaters, gyms and fitness studios, campgrounds, recreation centers, and bowling alleys can reopen.
